The short version: we collect almost nothing, we use it only for what you asked, and we never sell or share it for marketing. Here is the whole of it, in plain language.
Effective date: {{TODO: effective date — pending Tim's sign-off of this policy}}
Privacy officer (responsable de la protection des renseignements personnels): Timothy Bowker — info@northriverranch.ca
Newsletter: if you subscribe to our notes from the farm, we collect your email address and a record of which page you signed up from.
Contact form: if you write to us, we collect your name, your email address, and whatever you put in your message.
Reserve interest: if you ask us to hold a place for beef, honey, or breeding stock, we collect your name, your email address, the product you asked about, and any note you add.
That is the list. The site has no customer accounts, takes no payments, and collects no payment information. We don't buy data about you and we don't combine what you give us with anything else.
Your newsletter email is used to send you the newsletter you asked for — a few letters a season — and nothing else.
Your contact details are used to reply to you. Your reserve-interest details are used to write back and confirm details, pricing, and timing before anything is owed.
We never sell your information, rent it, trade it, or hand it to anyone for their marketing. We won't add you to anything you didn't ask for.
Like most small operations we use a few service providers to do the mechanical work. Each one handles only what its job requires:
Beehiiv — runs our newsletter list and sends the letters. It holds the subscriber emails.
Resend — forwards contact-form and reserve-interest messages to our ranch mailbox as email.
Vercel — hosts the website, and provides our visitor analytics. The analytics are cookieless and aggregate: we see page counts and trends, never a profile of you. The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies.
These providers store data on servers that may be outside Quebec and outside Canada. We chose them because they are established services with their own published privacy and security commitments.
Newsletter emails stay on the list until you unsubscribe (every letter has an unsubscribe link) or ask us to remove you — then they are deleted from the list.
Messages you send us are kept in our ranch mailbox the way any working farm keeps its correspondence — so we remember what we told you. If you ask us to delete your messages, we will, unless a law requires us to keep a record (for example, around an actual sale).
Under Quebec's privacy law (Law 25) you can ask us, at any time: what personal information we hold about you (access); to correct it if it's wrong (rectification); to stop using it or delete it (withdrawal of consent).
Write to info@northriverranch.ca for any of these. There's no form and no fee — it's a small farm; a plain email does it. We'll confirm what we did within 30 days.
If we ever experience a breach involving your information, we will notify you and the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec as the law requires.
The person in charge of protecting personal information at Ranch Rivière-du-Nord Inc. is Timothy Bowker. Questions, requests, or complaints about privacy go to info@northriverranch.ca — he reads them himself.
If we change this policy, the new version is posted here with a new effective date. We will not quietly broaden what we do with what you've already given us.
